Emigrated to Australia at the age of 16 in 1926. Departed UK 18th Sept 1926, arrived 1st Nov 1926. Finished up as a successful sugar cane farmer. Before emigrating he served for a while in the Territorial Army, Swindon. Actually in camp at Okehampton when emmigration papers arrived. After trying his hand at most everything, Fatty finally settled down as a sugar cane farmer. That was after his 5 or 6 years in the Australian Army. Ill health compelled him to retire early. He uprooted from Maryborough and settled in Cairns leaving half the family and taking the rest.
