Memories of Florrie Dunford (Grandaughter of George)

When Mum died, the family moved back to Appleton but the children were split up and lived with various members of the family

Me ,Rose and Jim went to live with our Grandparents, George and Sarah at Pond Farm in Appleton. There were three horses on the farm at that time, Blossom, Prince and Colonel. They were great big Cart Horses.

I remember the time I chopped up wood for the fire, and it turned out George wanted all of this wood for something else. He shouted "Damn yer eyes, girl - I need that wood!"

A happier memory is of the old railway carraige he bought from the Railway works in Swindon. He had it taken up to the top of the field on Pond Farm, which he must have sold because he had the carraige fitted out and he started living in it. I can still remember going up to see him in his carraige.
